Rhys Chatham conducted A Crimson Grail for 200 guitars outdoors at Lincoln Center in Damrosch Park. 200 electric guitars, 16 bassists, 1 high hat. Rhys Chatham lead 4 section leaders. The guitars surrounded us on all sides. It was a magical experience.
My friends Steve Five and Doug Gillard played among the 200. The crowd was filled with New York legends - musicians, artists, underground luminaries from the past 40 years or so. The place was overflowing. The vibes overtook the skies, the streets, the trees. It was unbelieveable. Powerful beyond words.
An unforgettable evening.

80s Downtown New York rockers Liquid Liquid followed. They were incredible.
